malam honua

this morning 25th march

[meaning of malama honua Mālama honua is a Hawaiian concept that means to care for our Island Earth. Our Hawaiian voyaging canoes, Hōkūle'a and Hikianalia, are on a journey around the world to learn, create global relationships, and explore how to care for our oceans and Island Earth]
Hello my name is Ricky and I will be telling you about malama honua. Our whole school cluster meet each at the pt england beach where we had a ceremony. There were about 12 school doing the haka the day was beautiful.
The water was wet the sun was shining the speaker told the cluster to etu that means stand in maori. We all stood up and did the haka 6 times and then the speakers introduced themselves and did a announcement and greeted the people from Hawaii. The speakers and the hawaiian people communicated with each other then the school clusters sung a song.We also learned what manaiakalani meant it meant the hock of heaven. There were 2000 kids doing this haka. The juniors were mostly throwing bugs and mucking around with them. The girls were scared of them because the boys were throwing them at the girls I started laughing. Then we sung another song then we greeted ourselves and gave them each a high five. When we were at point england beach  my favorite bit was when the girls got scared and when we did the haka.
