Mutorere

Today we learnt how to play an indigenous game of new zealand called mutorere.
It is a brain game that makes you strategize and use logic to outwit your opponent.
Image result for mu torere
You will need some colored stones or counters and the board. One person moves at a time.
You cannot jump over your opponent pieces the game is won when your opponent cannot move.
I really like this game because it challenges you to use your brain and patterns we also had a tournament and I was the referee we finally announced the winner of the tournament it took a long time but we found the winner it was kanye. if you don't understand what I mean check out this video and maybe you'll get the idea just watch the red one

Cure Kids.

Today Room 10 participated in a Kelly sports event to support cure kids. Cure kids is a charity that fund a vital medical research. That means cure kids research to find cures for different types of diseases.
An example of the way they support children's health is raising money to find cures. The effect of their research is that everyone can live a healthy childhood. Today I participated by giving money to cure kids. That means I can help to try and find cures and we also played some games. An example of a game we played was noodle hockey there are two teams and in both of the team each player stands on a color dot and when the instructor calls out a color or even two that color runs to the side and gets a pool noodle so they can smack the ball to the goal. By supporting cure kids, I hope my impact is enough to help this charity.

On sunday both of them went to the pharmacy to get a medicine for their cough and each day the father drinks 50 mls the same concept goes with the daughter except she takes 15 mls a day. As a class we solved the problem after we turned it into a chart to show our learning.

Tia and Tom algebra.

Today Room 10 solved a level 4 algebra problem to calculate how much money would be spent and how much was earnt by two twins. On sunday Tom one of the twins started of with $20.00 and spent $2.00 each day. Tia the  other twin started of with $0.00 and earned $2.50 each day. The strategy I used to help me calculate this problem was a small and simple one I simply counted in twos and by looking at this chart you can see what day Tia overlapped her twin brother friday . We used a line chart to show our thinking at the end Tia had $12.50 and Tom had $12.

My super boring holiday

In the holidays I did nothing yes nothing just cleaning well and a little bit of being lazy. Typical me and watching a series about a zombie apocalypse but other than that I just looked outside and "sighed". and that was the boring nothing I did in the holidays just kidding. There was nothing fun or nothing good enough to describe my holiday well to describe one week. But the other week was even more boring nah it was kind of fun some of my cousins came over to play basketball they kept telling us to come to their courts but none of us wanted to so I or we just hung out with everyone at my house but again all of the other days were boring what can I say I suck at having fun nah and other than doing stuff boring I had breakfast not in the morning more like around the afternoons due to my love sleeping so that was my holidays Sleep for a long time eat go back to bed wake back up clean lay on the couch look at the roof watch tv play basketball go to church do the dishes eat again and sleep then finally hiding so I don't need to do the dishes yay but apart from doing all the boring stuff I laughed at my brother when he got into trouble and now that I'm back to school everythings back to normal yaaaay oh yes and I listen to music in holidays what did you do for the holiday

What sugar does in your body

When you eat sugar it get’s split into two different types of sugars glucose and fructose. When those two sugars reach the intestines in your body both of the sugars go through a portal vein. (A portal vein is a vein that connects to all of your other organs in your body) The first stop in the portal vein is the liver the glucose goes to the liver first, now the glucose goes into the liver and gets burn for energy. In order for the glucose to be burned the body releases something called insulin, insulin is like a key that opens your cells so the glucose can be burned. The fructose is the type of sugar that mucks everything up fructose goes thought the same process but ruins the body. It goes through the portal vein goes to the liver but an enzyme tries to take the bad sugar and tries to store it as energy. But ends up getting stored as fat the liver gets overloaded with fat from the fructose. There’s also a circle that kills the body faster. With more liver fat it goes out into the blood and that’ll cause your levels of triglycerides and cholesterol to go higher. That increases your risk of cardiovascular disease,(cardiovascular disease is a disease that ruins your heart and blood vessels) Scientists believe liver fat decreases insulin to do what it is supposed to do. And that is to act as a key to open the cells for the glucose to burn. If insulin isn't working well then that cause more fat to enter the blood. This circle is believed to make each other worse and it causes bad stuff to happen to you.

Tuakana teina day

Today room 10 and room1 were buddied up for tuakana teina. I was buddied up with perry and this morning we made a kete using paper, card board, scissors,a glue stick, and plastic colouring crayons. The first thing we did was colour the kete then we cut them out with the scissors. We had to glue one of them to the card board so we glued perry's one to the card. Then we had to cut some food out like banana's. After we stapled the kete together then stuffed them with paper towels. The finishing product looked pretty cool perry put toast, pineapples, cheese, kiwi fruit, karrot, fish, and yogurt on his. I put bananas, kumara, chicken, eggs, milk,an apple, and some nuts on my one .

Degrees turns and flips

For maths this week it's going to be based on matariki for today's lesson of math we were learning about angels like a 360 turn and the cluster of stars matariki turns/rotates but does not flip it rotates in four different ways they are 0 degrees or 360,90 degrees,180 degrees,270 degrees but when it is rotated it looks the same except turned on different angles Miss kyla explained to the whole class the difference between flipped and rotated for example flipped is when you turn something over and rotate means you are like spinning an object like a piece of paper or a book.

matariki planting

Yesterday Kia Manawanui went to paddington reserve to plant some trees there were three types of trees to plant there were manuka trees kowhai trees and harakeke plants it was fantabulous and a good opportunity for us to get out of the class and I'd like to say thank you to the people who organised this event mad ave.

Bone tiki

I'm finally on chapter two on the bone tiki book written by david hair so far I'm mad at this book because this guy puarata is a pretty bad person and I don't like it  but from what i've heard puarata actually owns the tiki

In the book it talks about matui and his father going to the marae and meeting everyone there his cousin or young uncle riki is like his best friend to be honest when the books describing riki it sounds like me and we got the same name wow anyways he's with riki next to the frontgate talking about hangi and mats mouth starts watering they go towards the meeting house but they seem scared they see carvings looking at them as they walked on then they see an old woman in a korowai or something then he goes to where nanny wai's body is and at tells his auntie about puarata then the auntie gave the bone tiki to mat, mat and riki goes outside but then an unidentified car pulled up in the crowd of cars a bunch of people came out of the car then puarata came out to be continued.            Image result for bone tiki
